A weekly small group class, that will give your child vital additional support and guidance from an experienced teacher in order to fulfil their potential in GCSE English.
Who are these sessions for?
Are you worried that your child is not making progress in English? Do you feel that their current grades do not reflect their full potential in this subject? Is your child feeling demotivated in English and lacking direction?
The GCSE English examinations are intense and demanding in any year, let alone the exceptional circumstances our children are currently facing. Parents, students and teachers are all under intense pressure to “catch up from Covid”, and this has understandably left some students feeling overwhelmed.
These weekly classes will build your child’s confidence and inspire him/her to try new approaches to tasks, breaking them down in order to achieve greater depth and achieve better results.
I am a qualified secondary English teacher, with many years of experience in both classroom teaching and one to one tutoring and in this time I have been graded Ofsted Outstanding.
I love working with small groups of children and helping them find their spark in English. I have experience of teaching all the major examination boards and know how to put together effective lessons that fulfil the needs of the students.
I believe every child can succeed in English with the right guidance and support and I am so excited to be extending my services to include small group sessions.
How does it work?
In each class, we will be looking at different areas of the GCSE English Language course, and addressing which skills are required. These classes will be tailored for students studying Edexcel and AQA, and students’ work will be differentiated according to which examination they are sitting.
We will examine how to construct reading analysis answers, including how to analyse quotations and discuss writer techniques in more depth. We will alternate between reading and writing practice, in line with the different sections of the GCSE examination.
Learning will take place through group discussions, pair work and individual feedback and support. Places are limited to five students.
Fees are £12 a week, and classes need to be booked in six weeks blocks. This is to ensure continuity for the students.
Here are some testimonials from parents who have used my services:
